Regulating the Mind Through the Hidden World of Microbiology

A series of striking, sculptural organic forms inspired by the world of microbiology. Each piece reveals hidden layers when exposed to changing light, inviting viewers to engage with what is normally unseen and reflect on the complexity of both biological systems and inner emotional experience.

  • Background

My journey began in graphic design and printmaking. Several years later I expanded into a workshop in Kennington where we focused on up-cycling furniture using wood burning techniques and experimental materials. This later led to opening a shop on Lavender Hill called Burnt Furniture.

  • Turning Point

During a period of mental health challenges, I turned towards more personal, expressive fine art, exploring hidden worlds and microbiology as a coping mechanism. This worked as a way to calm the mind, silence intrusive thoughts, and create space away from overwhelming external influences.

  • Current Work

I focus on sculptural forms, ultra-black surfaces, ultraviolet pigments, and repetitive dot-work with the changing visibility reflecting the unseen layers of human experience. I’m interested in how the act of making can regulate the nervous system and support healing, which has led to my exploration of art therapy, mindfulness, and gamma brainwave states.
